Leading Brain Researcher to Address Conference

Lieberman Heads NAMI North Carolina’s 2001 Spring Conference Program

Dr. Jeffrey A. Lieberman, a prominent researcher in schizophrenia, will give the keynote address at NAMI North Carolina’s Spring 2001 Conference, held Friday and Saturday, April 20 and 21, at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center in Research Triangle Park.

Lieberman’s talk, titled “Advances in Treatment of Psychiatric Disorders,” is scheduled for 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Lieberman, 53, is director of the University of North Carolina’s Mental Health Clinical Research Center and Vice Chair for Scientific Affairs in the Department of Psychiatry at the UNC School of Medicine. Lieberman is also principal investigator and director of the $42 million Clinical Antipsychotic Trials of Intervention Effectiveness (CATIE) research program, the largest research study ever funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.
