From 1998-2002, I provided ongoing monthly writing, graphic design and consulting services to NAMI North Carolina, the state affiliate for the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Projects included news releases, fact sheets, conference promotion materials and a news and information website. I wrote and designed the Affiliate Tool Kit, a guide to operating an affiliate and marketing its services, and created affiliate logos, stationery and brochures for use at the community level. A guest editorial I wrote for the NAMI North Carolina president was published by the Raleigh News & Observer and picked up by CBS “60 Minutes.” I planned and executed promotion and publicity for “Balancing Act,” a play about bipolar disorder presented in 10 communities by NAMI North Carolina affiliates. I returned between 2004 and 2007 to work on several additional projects.
