As a subcontractor for Allen MAC, I wrote the text for a student viewbook. The client was The Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia.

My client, James R. Leichter, known as “Mr. HVAC,” hired me to write and design a direct mail package to promote his Total Office Manager software to contractors. He mailed a six-page sales letter I wrote to prospects along with the brochure I created. I also wrote and designed another sales brochure for the Lenexa, Kansas, company’s Flat Rate Plus HVAC services pricing software.

I wrote an award-winning humorous feature article for the 1986 April Fool’s Day edition of Burroughs Wellcome’ employee newsletter, “Placebo: A Drug Whose Time Has Come.”

Between Fall 1984 and Winter 1987, I wrote six feature articles on assignment for Winston-Salem Magazine.
